16 Days in Borneo - The Kingdom of Brunei

The ferry to Brunei only once a day. 8.30am is the early ferry, Kota Kinabalu - Labuan(transit) - Brunei. Alhamdulillah (thanks God) I recovered from dengue fever although not fully recovered but I still have the energy at least to continue the travelling.

Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddein Mosque at night.
The transit in Labuan is roughly about hour and a half. We just strolled down in the city of Labuan and had a lunch. Arrived at the Brunei jetty, we took a shuttle to Bandar Seri Begawan. The bus will stop at Bus Terminal in a huge building.
This stunning mosque is the symbol of the nation's deep rooted faith.
For the shoe string backpackers, budget accommodation has not much choice. The cheapest is at the Youth Centre (Pusat Belia) which is about 10 minutes walk from the bus terminal. If you are not sure where it is, ask people where is 'Pusat Belia'. There is no sign in English at the centre.

The carer of the hostel is not at the centre all the time. You probably has to wait for 2 hours at least to get a bed in the hostel.

If you walk around the city, you will never miss this.

A view from the square at the shopping mall.
I was expected eating outside in Borneo was higher expensive than Malaysia, but I was wrong. It is about the same in Malaysia. We paid about BND 7 for rice, tom yam soup, nan bread, curry chicken and 3 drinks (my bf always had extra drink).
Delicous indian curry.

Makam Raja Ayang (Raja Ayang Tomb)
The next day we visit The Royal Regalia museum. Awesome! A large collection of opulent treasures.

Royal Regalia Museum (the royal museum)

A must visit museum if you are in Brunei.

We flew back to Kuala Lumpur from Bandar Seri Begawan. Our flight was at 9.30am, Air Asia, we woke up as early as 5.30am, walk to the bus terminal which is about 10 minutes walk and get a bus to the airport. We had to pay BND20 air port tax upon check-in. Our BND was running out so my bf has to run to the money changer to change some money.
